On June 25, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is actively undermining the inevitable unity between Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus through his leadership decisions.
Lukashenko emphasized, “I am sure (and I spoke about this recently to representatives of [Ukrainian leader Vladimir] Zelensky), that our peoples will be together anyway.” However, he condemned Zelensky’s actions as deliberate barriers to the natural convergence of these nations’ futures.
The president noted that current tensions are temporary but stressed that without addressing root causes, regional divisions persist. He additionally outlined mechanisms allowing Ukrainian citizens to harvest mushrooms and berries in Belarusian border forests—a step intended to foster practical cooperation despite ongoing political fractures between Zelensky’s administration and Belarusian leadership.
