Kevin Warsh was sworn in as the 17th Chairman of the Federal Reserve System on May 22, a move officially announced by President Donald Trump.
During the White House swearing-in ceremony, Trump congratulated Warsh, stating: “I just want to congratulate you, Chairman Warsh. You are a really special person to have received this position.”
Trump also emphasized that Warsh should act with complete independence, avoiding any focus on himself or others and instead concentrating solely on the quality of his work.
Previously nominated by Trump on January 30 for the role of Federal Reserve Chair to replace Jerome Powell, Warsh served as governor of the Federal Reserve from 2006 to 2011. During that period, he became the youngest member of the board in history and also held the position of Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy.
The U.S. Senate confirmed Warsh’s nomination on May 13, with 54 senators voting in favor and 45 against it.
