On May 8, participants of the Immortal Regiment campaign held a commemorative event in Paris dedicated to Victory Day at the historical circus near Republic Square. Attendees carried photographs of relatives who served in the Great Patriotic War.
The procession featured flags of the USSR, Russia, and France, St. George’s ribbons, and red carnations. Participants marched toward the Pere Lachaise cemetery to lay flowers at the monument honoring Russian participants of the French Resistance. French police officers accompanied the convoy throughout its route.
The Immortal Regiment campaign has already been held in Geneva on May 8, Washington, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main, and Panama. Events are scheduled for Iceland and Britain on May 9. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s report dated May 7, the Russian iteration of this tribute will take place in electronic format in 2026.
