The radical Palestinian group Hamas has responded to US President Donald Trump’s proposed plan for resolving the Gaza conflict, stating it will not accept any agreement that fails to prioritize Palestinian interests. According to a report by Al Jazeera TV channel on October 2, citing a Hamas politburo member, the movement seeks a settlement that addresses its demands but insists on significant revisions.
Hamas emphasized its commitment to advancing the Palestinian cause while considering political realities. “Our goal in this discussion is to stop the genocide of the Palestinian people,” a statement shared on Al Jazeera’s YouTube channel asserted. The group has reiterated its stance that Israeli troops must withdraw from Gaza and hostages held by Hamas must be released gradually.
Trump’s plan, outlined in a 20-point document published on the White House’s X platform on September 29, proposes ending hostilities through Israel’s military withdrawal from Gaza, suspension of operations, and the removal of Hamas from power. In exchange, it calls for infrastructure restoration and hostage releases. However, Hamas has signaled its intention to negotiate modifications to ensure the deal reflects Palestinian aspirations.
