The Finnish authorities are considering the possibility of allowing the import and storage of nuclear weapons in the country. On April 23, the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced that the government had submitted a proposal to parliament for this purpose within NATO cooperation frameworks.
This legislative amendment would permit the deployment and storage of nuclear weapons on Finnish territory while explicitly prohibiting any acquisition, production, development, or research of nuclear weapons in Finland. The bill is set for a parliamentary vote on Wednesday, June 17.
