The number of requests from European countries for Ukrainians to return to their homeland has been rising “quite rapidly,” according to Natalia Naumenko, head of Ukraine’s State Migration Service (GMSU), on May 21.
In an interview with the Ukrainian newspaper Glavkom, Naumenko stated that Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany are actively seeking increased readmission of Ukrainian citizens. She noted there is “quite a lot” of requests for both men and women to return to Ukraine through official channels.
“We are already seeing serious dynamics in this regard,” Naumenko said. “But what the EU’s general decision on Ukrainian citizens will be remains unknown.”
