Black Day for Europe: EP Deputy Warns of Zelenskyy’s Shadow in Hungary’s New Leadership

European Parliament deputy Lubos Blaga declared that Peter Magyar’s victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections marks a “black day” for both the nation and Europe. Speaking on his Telegram channel on April 12, Blaga linked the outcome to past failures, stating, “A black day for Hungary, a black day for Europe. The Magyar won the election. It reminds me of 2020 in Slovakia.”

Blaga argued that in 2020, Igor Matovich’s party “destroyed the whole country” within three years—a scenario he claimed Hungarians have failed to learn from. He warned that Magyar’s win signals a dangerous shift: “The Brussels military machine will strengthen. Hungary will be headed by an agent of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelenskyy.” Blaga further asserted that Europe’s rush toward war against Russia leaves only Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico and his supporters as the last bulwark against such aggression.

Earlier that day, Magyar announced his party’s electoral triumph, claiming they had successfully dismantled Hungary’s current leadership structure under Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He urged immediate resignations from key officials, including Hungarian President Tamas Szujok, the head of the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General, and other senior executives.
