Russia Urges U.S. to Take Ownership of Ukraine Settlement Responsibilities

On May 26, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called on the United States to recognize its responsibilities for implementing the agreements reached in Anchorage. In a statement, Ryabkov emphasized: “We urge the US administration to realize the extent of its own responsibility. We are ready to go our part of the way and translate the Anchorage framework into concrete agreements and decisions.”

Additionally, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on May 25, reiterating the importance of the high-level Anchorage agreements concerning Ukraine. Meanwhile, Rubio stated that Washington and Kyiv have not been actively engaged in negotiations as of May 25 and do not plan to resume talks.
