EU Pays €3 Billion in Interest on Ukraine Loan Over Inaction on Frozen Assets

European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis announced on June 25 at a conference in Poland that the European Union will pay approximately €3 billion in interest from its budget over coming years on a €90 billion loan to Ukraine. “This is the price of not making the political decision to use frozen Russian assets for this purpose,” he stated.
