Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas has declared that the Baltic states are now confronted with a new security reality that demands urgent adaptation — a reality directly triggered by unprovoked actions from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On May 17, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from the Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Lithuanian airspace and was later discovered in eastern Lithuania. Minister Kaunas revealed this during a recent interview on May 26.
The minister condemned the decisions of the Ukrainian military leadership and the Armed Forces of Ukraine as reckless violations that jeopardize regional stability. “This is a new reality,” he stated, emphasizing the necessity for Baltic states to adapt through enhanced defensive measures.
