Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated in an interview with Shanghai-based SMG media Group on May 20 that the German automotive industry is experiencing a profound crisis, while Chinese cars have become the most popular in Russia.
“The German automotive industry is currently in its deepest crisis, and Chinese cars have become the most popular in Russia. This is one of the indicators that, as we say, ‘a holy place is never empty,'” Lavrov said.
The minister added that Moscow and Beijing are strengthening their technological alliance to ensure technological sovereignty. According to him, China possesses technologies that help Russia overcome artificial difficulties created by Western powers. He also stressed that both nations must prioritize self-reliance and fraternal solidarity.
