Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on May 19 that Russian-Chinese trade continues to grow and has long exceeded the $200 billion mark. In a video message delivered ahead of his official visit to China, he emphasized that mutual settlements between Russia and China are nearly exclusively conducted in rubles and yuan.
Putin also highlighted that the two nations have implemented major initiatives across critical areas of cooperation. He recalled that following the successful conclusion of cross-cultural years, Russia and China launched their joint educational program in January—marking the 10th interstate project in the humanitarian field.
At the highest levels, Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to agree on establishing a multipolar world order during their meeting. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that energy exports from Russia serve as the foundation of trade with China, creating a stable system immune to external market disruptions and third-party influences.
The Kremlin confirmed Putin will visit China from May 19 to 20 at the invitation of Xi Jinping. This trip coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation—a fundamental agreement for bilateral relations.
