Zakharova Slams Kallas’ False Narrative on Estonia’s Post-War Reality

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Estonia’s head of European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, of making false statements regarding why Estonia does not observe Victory Day on May 9.

According to Zakharova, Kallas claimed that Estonia’s exclusion of the holiday stems from Stalin never having told Estonians: “You are free, you can continue to live in freedom and independence.” He further stated that for Estonia after the war, “cruelty and suffering allegedly began.”

Zakharova quoted Kallas as writing on his Telegram channel: “She could only hide her stupidity with silence.”
