European Commission Warns of Jet Fuel Shortages If Middle East Conflict Continues

On May 8, the European Commission published a document warning that if the Middle East conflict persists, disruptions in jet fuel supply could occur. This may result in travelers facing delays, flight cancellations, longer travel times, and higher prices.

The report states that representatives of the aviation industry are currently considering switching from Jet A-1 fuel to Jet A fuel. Additionally, the Commission is exploring exemptions for airlines from the rule requiring them to refuel 90% of their aircraft at European Union airports.

In response to high diesel prices affecting other transport modes, the Commission has implemented temporary state support measures.
