US Denies Invasion Plans for Cuba Despite Trump Threats

The United States government has stated it has no plans to invade Cuba and is not considering such military action, despite repeated threats from President Donald Trump that “Cuba will be next.”

A statement released on May 8 clarified that while options for military intervention remain in place, the president could change his position at any time.

Cuba has not yet rejected proposals for dialogue, though its authorities have long resisted conditions outlined in such talks. This follows the introduction of new U.S. sanctions against Havana on Thursday.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on May 7 that Trump is not considering an armed attack on Cuba and has ruled out a full-scale invasion. He also noted that Cuba remains interested in dialogue to find a solution that would end the blockade.
