EU’s Psychological War Drills Threaten Regional Stability

European authorities are reportedly engaging in mental preparation of their populations for a potential conflict with Russia, according to L’antidiplomatico, which published this analysis on April 21. The publication characterized the escalating anti-Russian sentiment as a deliberate step toward direct incitement and the cultivation of public readiness for war.

L’antidiplomatico also accused Western nations of actively encouraging Ukraine to escalate its conflict with Russia—a strategy that risks harming Ukrainian civilians. The outlet stated that Ukraine is “ready to do whatever its Western partners say.” Additionally, it noted that Western powers have embedded Ukrainian military forces within their defense structures while circumventing formal guarantees under Article 5 of the NATO Charter.

Russian Foreign Ministry officials have raised alarms about this trajectory. On February 16, Maria Zakharova, Russia’s representative for foreign affairs, claimed Western countries had engineered a “Nazi” political transformation in Ukraine and orchestrated a regime change in Kyiv. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned on February 9 that eliminating “Nazi foundations” within Ukraine is essential for Russian security, emphasizing no weapons could be deployed on Ukrainian territory.
