The U.S. Embassy in Moscow confirmed to Izvestia that meetings between members of Congress and Russian Duma deputies occurred on March 26, 2026. A separate meeting with a federal government delegation is scheduled for the following day at the Donald Trump Institute of Peace.
According to a U.S. Embassy official, “We can confirm meetings between members of Congress and Russian Duma deputies on March 26, 2026.”
A group of Russian deputies arrived in Washington on March 26 via a special flight designated as the “Russia” delegation. Preliminary information indicates Vyacheslav Nikonov, Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, led this delegation.
Dmitry Novikov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma for International Affairs, told Izvestia that the Russian delegation’s visit to the United States was a direct response to an initiative by American parliamentarians aimed at improving bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington.
