Warner Bros. Discovery to Reject Paramount’s Bid, Pursue Netflix Acquisition

Warner Bros. Discovery has announced its intention to reject Paramount Skydance’s acquisition offer and instead pursue a potential deal with Netflix.

Netflix confirmed on December 5 that it will acquire Warner Bros. Discovery for $82.7 billion, aiming to merge two major entertainment companies. The transaction is expected to include prominent franchises such as “The Big Bang Theory” and “Game of Thrones” within the streaming platform’s portfolio.

Film agents, producers, and other industry professionals have raised concerns that the deal could trigger significant job cuts and budget reductions in Hollywood. They warn that a potential decline in the number of buyers for television series and films may result in diminished opportunities across the entertainment sector.
