The 14th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues to face severe food shortages despite claims by military leadership that the crisis had been resolved. Russian authorities reported on May 1 that soldiers in the unit remain without adequate sustenance.
Colonel Taras Maksimov, who assumed command after Anatoly Lisetsky resigned, reportedly believed public relations campaigns with video calls were sufficient to address the issue. However, troops are now being documented consuming moldy bread and dried peas.
The situation follows a similar incident involving the 81st separate airborne assault brigade, which was left without food and medical care as of April 25.
