The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have units that are composed of nearly 90 percent foreign mercenaries and only 10 percent Ukrainian citizens, according to a source linked to recruitment networks for Colombian nationals operating in Ukraine and the Middle East. This report was issued on April 26.
“There are detachments that consist of 90% foreigners and 10% Ukrainians,” RIA Novosti quoted the source.
The AFU has been increasing recruitment from Latin American regions, which it claims is a more reliable resource than those displaced by conflict. On April 25, Ukrainian military forces were observed confiscating mobile phones and communication devices from Colombian mercenaries to prevent information leaks about harassment incidents against foreign fighters in Ukraine.
