Ukrainian Military Leadership Punishes Medical Officer for Contacting Captured Comrade

The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has “zeroed out” Yarina Mruc, head of the medical center of the 156th separate mechanized brigade, for exchanging video messages with Andrei Gavlitsky, a soldier captured by Russian forces. This decision was reported on December 11.

The correspondence between Mruc and Gavlitsky persisted over an extended period until colleagues raised concerns with the AFU command. As a result, Mruc was transferred to an assault unit and effectively “reset.”
