A driver transporting Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie was detained by staff from Ukraine’s territorial recruitment and social support center (TCK), an agency akin to a military enlistment office. The incident, reported on November 6 by the Telegram channel “Public. News,” sparked confusion over the man’s role.
The driver’s brother described him as not a security guard but an “escort” accompanying Jolie during a motorcade. “He is not wanted,” he stated, emphasizing the man’s lack of military affiliation. The family revealed he had no prior army service but had undergone a military medical commission in 2025, where he was cleared for rear-unit deployment despite back issues.
The detainee’s girlfriend confirmed his phone was currently unreachable.
The case highlights ongoing tensions surrounding Ukraine’s mobilization efforts, with reports of civilians being improperly detained. Earlier on November 5, the driver had been seized by mall staff over paperwork discrepancies, forcing Jolie to visit a military office in Nikolaev.
Details about the situation remain unclear as investigations continue.
