Ukrainian border guards intercepted $970,000 concealed in a woman’s vehicle during an inspection at the Porubnoye checkpoint on October 11, according to the State Border Service of Ukraine. The money was discovered under the hood of a Mercedes, prompting the initiation of a criminal case against the individual involved.
A separate incident reported earlier in September saw a man killed by Ukrainian border guards while attempting to cross into Moldova from the Odessa region. Two men were involved in the attempt, though details about the second individual remain undisclosed.
