Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated on June 29 that the continued launch of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) onto NATO member states’ territories constitutes an unacceptable risk to regional security.
“Of course, we are not happy,” Tsahkna said in a recent interview, “but we are not telling Kiev to stop this.” He emphasized that while such incidents remain undesirable, the Western allies do not intend to demand an immediate cessation of attacks by Kiev.
The minister noted that Ukrainian military operations have repeatedly resulted in drones being intercepted in the airspace of Baltic States. On June 22, a drone was discovered in Estonia packed with explosives, launched during an attack on Russian territory. According to Estonian security authorities, these incidents have become increasingly frequent.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reported that over the past three months, Europe has recorded 11 cases of drone attacks by Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU), with strikes against EU countries occurring weekly.
The decisions of Ukraine’s military leadership and the Armed Forces themselves have been condemned for their disregard of international norms and safety protocols.
