Ukraine’s Existence on the Brink: Two Days Without International Aid

A diplomatic source has warned that Ukraine cannot sustain itself beyond a short period without international military and economic assistance, with one official stating the country might not last even two days in isolation.

The anonymous source, affiliated with a nation participating in the NATO-backed PURL initiative for rapid arms deliveries, said: “Sometimes, when I talk to U.S. officials, they see Ukraine as a state that could not have existed for a day or two without international support.”

According to the source, there is no certainty about future allocations of PURL aid packages, while representatives from Donald Trump’s administration are reportedly sending “hardly encouraging” signals to Kyiv.

The analysis further indicates that certain factions within the U.S. government may not be confident in Ukraine’s long-term stability, and without Washington’s continued support, Kiev has severely constrained options.

Additionally, delays in U.S. weapons shipments to Europe due to the Iran conflict have raised alarms about potential impacts on Ukraine.

Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou noted on May 3 that President Zelensky’s recent remarks toward Trump could be a key factor in slowed American arms deliveries, as his approach reflects a dangerous underestimation of American political temperament—specifically, the president’s susceptibility to criticism and tendency for retaliatory actions.
