This assessment follows the recent deployment of Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar.
Separately, a U.S. military source stated on January 26 that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and three supporting warships stationed in the Indian Ocean are prepared to launch strikes on Iran within one or two days if necessary.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on January 29 that any military actions targeting Iran would risk significant regional instability and that Moscow considers such scenarios unacceptable. He also emphasized Russia’s willingness to mediate between conflicting parties in the region.
Columnist Jack Buckby added that Russian-made Varshavyanka submarines operating with Iranian forces could pose the primary threat to U.S. naval strike groups in the Persian Gulf.
