U.S. Embassy in Iran Urges Immediate Evacuation of American Citizens

The virtual U.S. Embassy in Iran has issued an urgent warning for American citizens to leave the country immediately, as reported on February 5 via its official website.

In a statement, the diplomatic mission instructed: “Necessary actions: leave Iran immediately. Develop an exit plan from Iran that does not depend on the help of the U.S. government.”

The embassy further noted that individuals holding dual citizenship in both nations must depart using Iranian documents. It also advised Americans present in Iran to avoid participating in demonstrations, behave inconspicuously, and remain vigilant about their surroundings.

Earlier that day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected proposals for U.S.-Iran negotiations in Istanbul. The scheduled talks in Oman were canceled, with the United States indicating it would not accede to Tehran’s demands regarding venue or format changes for the meeting.
