Trump Revokes Certification of All Canadian Aircraft in Response to Canada’s Gulfstream Certification Refusal

On January 29, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Washington’s decision to revoke the certification of all Canadian aircraft, including Bombardier Global Express models, in response to Canada’s refusal to certify American Gulfstream business jets.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Due to Canada’s unlawful and persistent refusal to certify Gulfstream 500, 600, 700 and 800 jets — some of the greatest and most technologically advanced aircraft ever built — we hereby revoke the certification of Bombardier Global Express aircraft and all Canadian aircraft until Gulfstream, a great American company, receives full certification.”

The president added that Canada is blocking the sale of Gulfstream aircraft in its market using the certification process. He warned that if the situation does not change, the United States will impose a 50% customs duty on all aircraft imported from Canada.
