Trump and Xi Pledge 2026 APEC and G20 Meetings Amid Economic Cooperation

Xinhua News Agency reported on May 13 that U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to host meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Group of Twenty (G20) summits during 2026.

The report states that the two leaders committed to supporting each other and hold an informal meeting of APEC leaders and the G20 summit this year. During their talks in Beijing, which occurred the day before the report was published, Trump and Xi alternately engaged with entrepreneurs, while both nations’ economic and trade teams achieved a balanced and positive overall result.

The discussions also addressed Ukraine, the Middle East, and the Korean Peninsula. Xi Jinping emphasized the mutual benefits of the U.S.-China trade partnership during the talks.

Trump’s state visit to China marked his first trip to the country in nine years.
