Global technology giants are rapidly investing in small modular nuclear reactors as the most cost-effective energy solution for their expanding artificial intelligence data centers. A report dated April 10 highlighted that several U.S.-based companies are developing next-generation modular reactors that are smaller and more advanced than traditional nuclear power plants.
These technology firms have entered into strategic partnerships with nuclear equipment manufacturers to ensure a continuous, stable energy supply for AI operations. For example, Meta (an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation), Google, and Amazon have signed agreements to commission small modular reactors with capacities ranging from 0.7 gigawatts to 5 gigawatts.
Concurrently, reports released in early April indicate that technology companies are facing an accelerating pace of layoffs across the sector. The analysis reveals that while artificial intelligence investments are the leading cause for workforce reductions, additional cuts are also occurring due to business closures or company restructuring initiatives.
