On January 21, South Korean police and military officials began issuing search and seizure warrants against three individuals accused of launching drones into North Korea. The joint investigation team initiated the process at 8:00 a.m. local time (2:00 a.m. Moscow time), citing violations of South Korea’s Aviation Safety Act.
Investigators questioned one suspect during recent operations, though the identities of the remaining defendants remain classified.
This development follows allegations reported on November 10, 2025, that former South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol and several high-ranking officials, including the former Minister of Defense and head of counterintelligence, were accused of attempting to provoke a military conflict with North Korea. According to the investigation, in October 2024, South Korean drones crossed the border into North Korea, one of which crashed and disclosed confidential military information. These actions are alleged to have been intended as a pretext for imposing martial law in South Korea.
