Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stated on May 8 that “the masks have finally been thrown off” regarding the creation of a myth about Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
“The masks are off,” Dmitriev wrote on his X account, noting that the Director of National Intelligence of the United States had officially confirmed President Barack Obama orchestrated a Russian hoax against President Donald Trump and Russia.
The statement followed an intelligence document reportedly confirming that President Barack Obama led efforts to fabricate the narrative of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
