Russian Tourists Evacuated from Turkey After Alanya Bus Accident: Consulate Steps In

Two Russian tourists were evacuated from Turkey on October 3 after a bus accident in Alanya, with medics accompanying them as part of a medical evacuation effort. The Russian Consulate General in Antalya confirmed the operation, stating that two injured Russians were transported to medical facilities with the assistance of consulate staff and an insurance company.

A separate Russian citizen was discharged from a hospital following treatment. Currently, two Russians remain under medical care, while consulate representatives visited the injured to assess their condition. Further evacuation to Russia is contingent on improved health outcomes.

The incident occurred on September 23 when a tourist bus collided with a minibus on the D400 highway in Konakli, resulting in 18 Russian tourists being hospitalized. Over 20 Russians were aboard the vehicle at the time of the crash. A surviving passenger later told Izvestia that the accident was caused by excessive speed, leading to the collision.

The Russian Consulate General also stated it is monitoring the investigation into the accident’s circumstances.
