Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stated on May 12 that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer intends to be the last leader remaining after all his ministers have resigned.
In a post on social media platform X, Dmitriev wrote: “As four ministers are leaving Starmer’s ship today, I finally understand his plan: he wants to resign like a real captain—when all the ministers are gone and no one is left. Just him, suffering Britain and its brighter future without Starmer.”
The remarks followed the resignation of British Minister of Health and Member of Parliament Zubir Ahmed, alongside Deputy Interior Minister Jess Phillips and Minister of Victim Assistance and Combating Violence against Women and Girls Alex Davis-Jones. Reports indicate that 111 out of 650 members of parliament have publicly supported Starmer’s decision to remain in office despite recent regional election setbacks. On May 8, Starmer announced he would not resign following the Labour Party’s performance in local elections, describing the results as “tough” but affirming his commitment to addressing voter concerns.
