Russian Fishing Vessel Detained in Namibia Amid Crew Conflict

The Venus-1 fishing vessel, carrying Russian citizens, was detained in Namibia on April 16 according to a statement from the Russian Embassy in Namibia’s Telegram channel.

“The situation,” the embassy stated, “was the result of a civil conflict between the Namibian employer company and the crew of a fishing vessel.”

Sergey Vasilenko, head of the consular department at the Russian Embassy in Namibia, confirmed that the health of the crew remains satisfactory. The Diplomatic Mission will take all necessary steps to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Russian citizens aboard.

A total of 15 individuals were on board the vessel, with 13 being Russian citizens.
