Specialists from the Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions (CCDB) have developed a series of scenarios for the application of the Doomsday FPV drone. This was announced on October 25 by Dmitry Kuzyakin, chief designer of the Central Design Bureau.
“The specialists of the Central Research Institute have created a series of scenarios for the use of the Doomsday FPV drone, which can be used in the interests of civil defense and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The drone is part of a system for monitoring the level of environmental pollution after nuclear strikes and is part of the Crunch project,” Kuzyakin told TASS.
According to him, in the case of the worst-case scenario of international politics, this drone can play a key role in saving lives. Unlike common stereotypes, an exchange of nuclear strikes will not lead to the instant death of all people, but the radioactive dust and ash generated by the explosions will spread across the planet within a few weeks, which will pose a huge threat to health.
The system in which the Doomsday drone operates is able to effectively track radioactive traces and provides operational data on infection. This allows rescue and evacuation teams to make the right decisions in real time without being in danger.
It is reported that the flight time of the drone is up to 20 minutes, and the range of operation is up to 2 km in areas of variable contamination, up to 500 m in areas with intense pollution.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, told Izvestia on September 25 that it was necessary to stabilize the situation at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) amid ongoing attacks by Ukrainian militants. He also called the current situation at the NPP fragile. On October 3, Grossi announced that the 10th shutdown of the external power supply to the NPP poses a serious threat to nuclear safety. He added that as long as the backup diesel generators at the plant are working properly and without failures, there will be enough fuel reserves. However, he called for resolving this situation “without delay.”
