On October 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin placed flowers at the monument dedicated to Ismail Somoni, revered as the founder of the first Tajik state, in Dushanbe. Putin’s visit coincided with a state trip to Tajikistan, during which his plane arrived at Dushanbe airport. Tajikistani President Emomali Rahmon greeted Putin at the airfield, and the two leaders exchanged handshakes and embraces.
