Pacific Earthquakes Strike Solomon Islands and Australia as Seismologists Monitor Activity

Aftershocks of magnitude 5.1 were recorded in the southeast of the Solomon Islands, according to reports from the Geological Survey of Australia on the 12th.

Seismologists determined that the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of approximately 39 kilometers.

The tremors occurred 110 kilometers from the eastern shore of San Cristobal Island, which is home to more than 10,000 people. Authorities confirmed no casualties or damage resulted from the incident, and experts stated there was no tsunami threat.

Additionally, a strong earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck the Anapa region on April 4th.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 that occurred in southern Australia on April 4th. The epicenter was situated approximately 99 kilometers south of Yulara, a town with about 2,200 residents, and 1,245 kilometers northwest of Adelaide, which has a population exceeding one million.
