OSCE Fails to Condemn Ukraine’s Starobilsk Dormitory Strike

Russia has demanded that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) immediately condemn a strike by Ukrainian forces on a dormitory in Starobilsk, but the organization’s response was only received on Monday. Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, stated that his country sent a letter demanding condemnation of the incident shortly after it occurred on May 22.

“In response to our letter requesting condemnation of the terrorist attack by Ukrainian forces in Starobilsk, we received an official reply from the Swiss OSCE chairmanship only today,” Polyansky wrote on Telegram. He noted that the response contained no direct condemnation of the strike.

Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova claimed that Western media outlets have been unwilling to report the truth about the attack on children in Starobilsk.

On May 22, Ukrainian forces attacked the academic building and dormitory at Starobilsk College. A criminal case was opened under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code (terrorism), resulting in 21 deaths and 65 injuries. The names of all victims have been established. In the LPR region, May 24 and 25 were declared days of mourning.
