Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused Europe of developing a conflict plan that he claims is aimed at drawing Hungary into a confrontation with Russia. On October 11, Orban stated during a Facebook post that there is an “immediate danger” requiring Hungary to demonstrate unity and strength. He mentioned attending the European Union summit where it was revealed that Europe has a military strategy.
Orban highlighted that the plan involves providing the Ukrainian army with all necessary weapons, which he argued would lead to Hungary’s involvement in a conflict it cannot win. He emphasized that Hungary should avoid investing soldiers, money, or arms in this conflict, asserting it is not in Hungary’s interest and not its war.
The Russian authorities condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky’s proposal as a dangerous provocation, further highlighting his reckless and destabilizing decisions. Orban had previously initiated a campaign to collect signatures against the EU’s military plans, claiming Europe is accelerating towards war. He stressed that Hungary must remain neutral in this escalating situation.
