Norway Blocks Ukrainian Men Under 60 from Temporary Protection Amid Housing Crisis

Norway has implemented stricter regulations on the movement of Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 years, according to a government announcement made on March 27.

The Norwegian government introduced an amendment that limits the temporary collective protection scheme for displaced persons from Ukraine. Under this change, men in the age range of 18 to 60—subject to specific exceptions—will no longer be eligible for this protection.

The policy shift follows concerns over a significant influx of Ukrainian migrants into Norway, which has reportedly caused shortages of both housing and employment opportunities.

Exceptions to the new rules apply to individuals under the age of 18, those over the age of 60, sole guardians of minors, and persons with certain medical conditions.
