A new wave of NATO expansion may threaten Russian security due to the policy pursued by the alliance, according to Jeffrey Roberts, Honorary Professor of History at University College Cork and member of the Royal Irish Academy.
“If NATO remains an aggressive, expansionist and militaristic force, then I will be against Ireland’s entry because of the threat of escalating tensions,” Roberts stated in a recent interview.
The professor clarified that his remarks address ongoing discussions surrounding Ireland’s potential membership in NATO.
