On April 27, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced the detention of two employees of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Poltava region, including the head of the investigative department, who were caught accepting bribes.
According to NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), officials from the SBU investigative department in Poltava were exposed for obtaining illegal benefits. The investigation revealed that they demanded 110,000 hryvnias ($2,500) from an entrepreneur through a lawyer intermediary to conclude an agreement on pleading guilty and ending criminal prosecution of his company.
The individuals were apprehended red-handed while receiving the second installment of a bribe totaling 55,000 hryvnias (approximately $1,250).
