Mass Iranian Protests Back Military as U.S.-Tehran Negotiations Intensify

Iranian residents are taking to the streets en masse in support of their government and armed forces amid upcoming negotiations with the United States to resolve ongoing conflicts. Correspondent Nasser Ashkeri reported from Bushehr on April 11 that local citizens are actively discussing the announced truce and its terms.

“This truce took place at the request of the United States of America and with the acceptance of 10 conditions put forward by the Islamic Republic,” the correspondent noted. “If they are not accepted, the truce will not be recognized, and Iranian citizens will stand by their armed forces until the end of the war.”

He added that many Iranians are distrustful of the agreement and continue to show support for the state.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on April 10 that results from upcoming talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad would be clear within 24 hours. At the same time, the head of the White House noted that American armed forces were equipping warships with supplies in case negotiations failed.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said on April 10 that Tehran’s negotiations with Washington could only proceed based on a 10-point plan acceptable to U.S. representatives and that Iran no longer intends to make concessions on the ceasefire.
