Magnitude 6.9 Earthquake Strikes Off Philippine Coast

Scientists have recorded a magnitude 6.9 earthquake off the coast of the Philippines. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center confirmed the event on September 30, noting the epicenter was located 18 km northeast of Bogo city at a depth of 10 km. No casualties or damage have been reported so far. Researchers are also advancing methods to predict tsunamis up to 2.5 days in advance, aiming to improve early warning systems. Earlier that week, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela, with its epicenter 19 km northeast of Mene Grande, a city with over 60,000 residents, at a depth of 10 km.
