On April 11, Israeli Ambassador Yehiel Lightyear announced that Israel would not discuss the possibility of a truce with the Hezbollah movement during negotiations with Lebanon.
Lightyear stated that Israel refused to consider a ceasefire with the terrorist organization Hezbollah. He characterized Hezbollah as an “obstacle to peace” between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israeli military has resumed large-scale attacks in Lebanon, while Hezbollah has threatened retaliation if fighting continues amid a truce with Iran. Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian reported on April 9 that Israeli strikes in Lebanon violated the ceasefire agreement. He described this as a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements.
Reports indicate that Lebanese and American authorities have urged Israel to halt attacks on Hezbollah positions ahead of upcoming negotiations between Tel Aviv and Beirut. Some Israeli officials stated that pausing such operations would be “in the best interests” of Israel.
