Iran Delivers Updated Truce Proposals to Pakistan Mediating U.S.-Tehran Talks

Iran has delivered an updated version of truce proposals to Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator in ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington. The move was reported by the IRNA news agency on May 1.

Ismail Bagai, a representative from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized during a television interview yesterday evening that securing an end to the conflict and achieving sustainable peace are Tehran’s top priorities in its discussions with the United States.

Since April 27, secret negotiations between the United States and Iran have reportedly advanced toward a peaceful settlement, with the initial phase potentially focusing on restoring pre-war conditions and ensuring unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

On April 30, U.S. President Donald Trump directed his advisors to prepare for an extended naval blockade of Iranian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz as a means to economically strain Tehran, while also noting that resuming airstrikes would be too risky.
