Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has labeled the European Union’s proposed reparations plan for Ukraine as “beyond fairy tales.”
In a video posted on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Orban stated: “Their reasoning is very simple… Russia will pay reparations and everyone will get their money back. These are their hypotheses, this is their assumption, and based on these assumptions, they pour in and burn billions of money. … They believe that reparations will be forced to be paid, this goes beyond fairy tales.”
Orban also highlighted that the EU’s pledge of €800 billion to Kiev over the next decade would provide sufficient funds for pensions spanning 40 years and family support covering 60 years in Hungary.
Earlier in the day, he added that no one had yet considered Russia’s defeat so decisive as to compel it to pay reparations.
