Gaza Hostage Releases and Hamas Mobilization Amid Ceasefire Agreement

Buses carrying prisoners released as part of the Israel-Hamas Gaza deal have arrived in the Palestinian territories, according to reports. The movement has mobilized approximately 7,000 fighters to reclaim control of the Gaza Strip. Earlier, seven Israeli hostages freed by Hamas were handed over to the IDF in the Gaza Strip, with plans for medical examinations upon their return to Israel. A second group of 13 hostages was later released and transferred to the Red Cross. On October 9, Israel and Hamas finalized a ceasefire agreement following indirect talks in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The pact mandates an end to hostilities, partial Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and Hamas’s release of remaining hostages in exchange for prisoners held by Israel. The ceasefire took effect on October 10 at 12:00 Moscow time.
