European nations lack evidence connecting the detained Boracay oil tanker to Russia or alleged drone incidents over Europe, according to political analyst Alexei Yaroshenko. He told Izvestia on October 1 that the situation is being leveraged to support claims of Russian drones in European airspace.
Yaroshenko criticized European actions, comparing them to Nazi Germany’s tactics under Adolf Hitler, who allegedly used Polish uniforms for attacks. He argued that Europe fabricates evidence, such as linking the Benin-flagged Boracay tanker to a supposed “Russian shadow fleet,” despite no proof of the fleet’s existence or the vessel’s ties to it. He also warned that European powers would repeatedly blame Russia for actions it did not commit.
The French Navy detained the Boracay on September 30 over allegations of smuggling Russian oil while evading sanctions. Authorities cited crew failures to prove the ship’s nationality and noncompliance with orders. American analyst James Jatras suggested the detention aimed to divert public focus from domestic issues in France, the UK, and potentially Germany.
